The strongest hurricane to menace the United States in a decade is continuing its trek north as it rumbles near the coastline, and forecasts warn that a dangerous storm surge of up to 11 feet could cause life-threatening flooding in as many as four states.
Hundreds dead in Haiti with death toll expected to rise
The United Nations said more than 350,000 of the 1.5 million people on the island need assistance to deal with destruction from the storm.
