Trump to propose slashing Medicaid, giving states power to limit other safety-net benefits
The president's budget proposal, set to be unveiled Tuesday, would follow through on a House GOP bill to cut more than $800 billion over 10 years from Medicaid, people familiar with the planning said. The White House also is expected to call for changes to anti-poverty programs that would give states new power to limit benefits and impose work requirements. The proposals come despite growing unease in Congress about cutting the safety net.
