Dow closes up 567 points after a rocky day of trading after historic drop
The Dow Jones industrial average lurched from negative to positive territory and then hovered at level before a surge in afternoon trading as investors attempted to navigate another rocky day in the markets. Meanwhile, exchanges in Asia and Europe plunged following Monday's record single-day 1,175-point drop in the Dow.
