The co-chiefs of staff for British Prime Minister Theresa May had been widely blamed for the disastrous results of Thursday's election. Their departures came as members of May's Conservative Party debated whether she should be forced out before the start of Brexit talks later this month.

If finding clear-cut parallels is difficult, the results seem to point toward one common theme: the roiling discontent of voters when given the opportunity to render their judgments of the status quo and the political leaders in charge.
