Republicans largely abandon their platform of fiscal restraint
Cutting spending to balance the budget was almost religion to Republicans for much of the past eight years, when they frequently clashed with then-President Obama about government spending and federal programs. Now, the GOP is charging forward with plans to significantly increase military spending and to cut taxes in a way that could add more than $1.5 trillion to the government's debt over 10 years.
Trump says he called Schumer to broker deal with Democrats for 'a great' health-care bill
Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer issued a statement in response to the president's tweet. He said he is willing to work to "improve the existing health care system" but not to "repeal and replace" the Affordable Care Act.
 
Trump on North Korea: 'Sorry, but only one thing will work!'
The president did not elaborate Saturday on what that "one thing" would be as he continued to make vague threats toward North Korea via Twitter.

The storm hurled lashing winds and pushed a surge ashore, triggering floods across the region. Nate is racing north at 20 mph and is expected to rapidly weaken as it moves inland.
