It looks more and more like Trump against the world at G-20 summit
As President Trump threatens to pull back on global trade, the country's closest allies are adjusting to a new world order in which they try working around the United States instead of looking to it for leadership.
Analysis
Trump has never had a plan for dealing with North Korea
The president continues to try to blame China's policy regarding North Korea while also explaining why the Chinese haven't been moved to action. That puts him in the uncomfortable position of having to wave away his past promises.

Tensions mount as U.S. proceeds with military exercises after North Korean missile test
A U.S. commander warned that North Korea's action threatened the tense balance on the Korean Peninsula. "Self-restraint, which is a choice, is all that separates armistice and war," Gen. Vincent K. Brooks said in a joint statement with a South Korean official.

NYPD officer 'assassinated' while sitting in a marked vehicle, officials say
Miosotis Familia was inside the mobile command post with her partner when a gunman fired through a window and struck her in the head, police said. It remains unclear what prompted the attack, and the suspect was shot and killed by two other officers about a block away from the scene.

As Mueller builds his Russia special counsel team, every hire is under scrutiny
The president has tried to cast Robert Mueller's team as a group of partisan Democrats, based on some members' donations and past work. While many experts see no major issues, others say the optical problem could undermine public confidence in the probe.

What Russia hopes to gain from Putin-Trump meeting
From Moscow's point of view, since President Trump took office, the relationship has gone from abysmal to worse, amid growing tensions over the increasingly assertive role of the U.S. military in Syria.

The Intersect | Analysis
The Reddit user behind Trump’s CNN meme apologized. But #CNNBlackmail is the story taking hold.
Furious pro-Trump Internet users believe that the apology was forced by a threat from the network. A CNN reporter said its story about withholding the user's identity was being "misinterpreted."

Some Trump supporters thought NPR tweeted 'propaganda.' It was the Declaration of Independence.
The public radio network broadcasts the Declaration every Fourth of July. It turned to Twitter this year to increase participation. The reaction was swift and angry.

Most states are now partially or fully refusing to hand over data to Trump's voter fraud commission
The majority of the states responded that local officials should be managing elections and that the White House's request for volumes of information went too far.

Charlie Gard not allowed to receive Vatican’s care, hospital spokesman says
The British foreign secretary backed the London hospital's decision to disconnect life support for the terminally ill child suffering from a rare genetic condition and resulting brain damage.

Opposition lawmakers beaten and bloodied on the floor of the Venezuelan congress
As pro-government attackers stormed the building, they apparently faced little or no resistance from security guards.

Louisiana congressman breaks rule No. 1: Don’t make Holocaust comparisons
Rep. Clay Higgins (R-La.) posted a video of himself making a political statement about homeland security as he toured Poland's Auschwitz death camp, which drew criticism from memorial officials who said he shouldn't have used the moment as a political "stage."

Drugmakers and distributors face barrage of lawsuits over opioid epidemic
After years of government and pharmaceutical firms failing to control the problem, some lawyers say the suits have the potential to force the industry to curb practices that contribute to the crisis.
