The president didn't go into detail on any specifics but said that he's considering "some pretty severe things" in response to North Korea's test-firing of an intercontinental ballistic missile. However, the administration's plans to counter the regime appear increasingly at odds with what Russia and China have in mind.

Doctors at MedStar Washington Hospital Center said Rep. Steve Scalise, the House majority whip, was listed in serious condition. The Louisiana Republican was wounded by a gunman during a congressional baseball practice in Alexandria, Va., last month.
